I Made Glass Nails! Perhaps the First of Their Kind

After completing my third set of glass flowers from my skill tree i wrapped up the series and shortly after made a video casually trying to make glass nails…

I had no idea the response this would have online but the reaction was explosive!

The first set were a gorgeous blend of marbles blues, striking and bold in their design but somewhat lacking in their shape, thickness and weight.

But it was clear that from the first attempt there was a lot of potential to be explored!

I also had no idea how to actually attach these in order to wear them.

With the curve of the glass being to exaggerated the glass nails don’t quite sit right so I made a new set with a less defined arch to combat this design flaw which seemed a dramatic improvement.

The thickness on the second set were also thinner as I intended to try to make them, however, there seems to be a need to strike the perfect balance between stylish, lightweight & durable.

To achieve this balance my next steps are to try to design my own tools which will allow me to obtain this crucial balance as well as create various popular shapes of nails such as oval, stiletto & almond for example.

I will also be able to explore adding textures to the glass, in particular I am very excited to try out lace, faceted, snake skin and leaf patterned glass nail designs!

Pre sales have made it possible to obtain the equipment needed to start making these tools! This is a very exciting time in my glass blowing journey that I cannot wait to develop.
